Senior Healthcare facilities were hit especially hard by the COVID pandemic so we weren’t able to photograph them for a long time. We were so happy when we finally were able to be back shooting healthcare. The team at PA Peterson made this such a great experience!

What Made this Photo Shoot Unique

We had a full team working to make this photo shoot go well. They had been waiting so long to be able to have us so they made sure to take advantage of our shoot. The best part of the shoot is that we had photographed one of their sister facilities the day before and our helper from that shoot knew exactly what to do when she arrived at PA Peterson!

Healthcare Virtual Tour for Southwell Medical

When we photograph small hospitals, we find ourselves saying WOW over and over. That was so true with the brand new Southwell Medical Center. Southwell Medical’s Adel campus is the newest member of the Southwell Healthcare system. The entire community came together to support the new hospital and we were thrilled that Southwell asked us to help showcase their hard work.

What Made this Photo Shoot Unique

Southwell Medical packs a lot into one campus. The 120,00 square-foot campus opened in 2019 and provides a large variety of medical services to meet the medical needs of their community. Southwell Medical is a state-of-the-art hospital, that includes acute care, laboratory services, sleep studies, medical imaging, endoscopy, an outpatient surgery center as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy services.

They are equipped to perform in patient and outpatient surgery as well as physical therapy, cardiac rehab and many different imaging technologies. Our goal in photographing the facilities was to show an overview of the facilities so that everyone can appreciate the facilities.

What we can’t capture as well is the exceptional care and service that the hospital gives their patients and visitors. For that you would have to visit in person but we hope that our virtual tour encourages the community to learn more about Southwell.

Assisted Living and Senior Living Virtual Tours

Senior Living Virtual tours are a valuable asset to Admissions Directors and Discharge Planners who are working with prospective residents and their families. We started our business 12 years ago and one of the first virtual tours we created was for the behavioral health program where I worked as Assistant Director of Admissions. I learned that when people are making difficult decisions, it is helpful to simplify things where possible.

Of course in person tours are the best way to get to know a facility. Senior Living virtual tours are invaluable in these days of COVID and even before when multiple family members from different locations were working together to make decisions for aging parents. The virtual tours we create provide a glimpse into a “Day in the Life” at a facility.

What Made this Photo Shoot Unique

The biggest challenge in photographing residential treatment facilities of any type is working around the sensitive needs of the residents and staff. It takes a special consideration to recognize and respect those needs and to work with the onsite staff to minimize disruption as much as possible.

The brand new Southwell Health and Rehabilitation is beautiful and the dedicated staff is devoted to their residents. They worked with us enthusiastically to make sure that every area truly showed off the facility. This team had worked together at a much older facility so when they moved to the new hospital and assisted living, they were proud to help us showcase the new place.

Southwell’s marketing team does an incredible job using their virtual tour. When they go to conferences, they set up a large tv and have the virtual tour playing in the back of their booth. It just so happens that Southwell’s public relations coordinator is my beloved niece. She understands the value of the virtual tour and has worked with us on many different shoots for her facilities.

Mixing Business With Pleasure

Working with my niece was pleasure enough but my entire family lives in that area so we got to enjoy time with them. My sister runs the hospital gift shop so we also got to work with her on this shoot!

Boarding School Virtual Tours

Boarding School Virtual tours are a valuable asset to Admissions Directors who are working with prospective parents and students. We started our business 12 years ago and one of the first virtual tours we created was for the behavioral health program where I worked as Assistant Director of Admissions. The virtual tour for the program where I worked allowed me to focus more on explaining our therapeutic program. Instead of answering logistical questions about our facilities, I could learn about the needs of the student and see if the school was a good fit for them.

I shared what I learned about virtual tours with other admissions directors I knew. Our business grew by referrals from other programs and has continued to grow with repeat business. One of our favorite places to visit and photograph is Lake Tahoe Prep. Lake Tahoe Prep (Formerly known as Squaw Valley Academy) is a boarding school located in the mountains near Lake Tahoe. The school focuses on students who benefit from small class sizes, college prep curricula and outdoor activities.

What Made this Photo Shoot Unique

We have photographed this program many times over the years. Their leadership team is committed to making improvements and advances and we are lucky they choose us to showcase their work. Their students come from all over the country and all over the world. They learned how valuable the Boarding School virtual tour is for their admissions staff.

People choosing to enter treatment for substance abuse are often overwhelmed with uncertainty and questions. Our goal is to show prospective students “A Day In the Life” of the program. The virtual tour can help answer some of the questions about the logistics of the facility. Hopefully this allows them to focus on choosing the right therapeutic program with confidence.

Mixing Business With Pleasure

Lake Tahoe is simply one of the most beautiful places on earth. We have visited many times and love it more each time we visit. We take our bicycles to our visits to Lake Tahoe. There are gorgeous bike paths that start right at the school. Some of our favorite bike rides have been around Lake Tahoe. That is usually the “pleasure” part of our trips to the area.

We stayed at a great condo at the Olympic Village on this trip. The Squaw Valley area was home to the 1960 Olympics and the Olympic Village is just up the road from Lake Tahoe Prep. Our condo looked out at the ski lifts and restaurants and stores. We visited during the off season which meant we were able to explore without crowds. In addition to exploring the village, we also visited town and saw beautiful views of the lake itself.

One of the challenges for senior living facilities and psychiatric hospitals is that they are frequently not accessible for in person tours to the general public for marketing purposes. We actually started our business primarily with photography for behavioral healthcare facilities because Paige has a background in behavioral health. This has made us the perfect choice for hundreds of facilities looking for behavioral healthcare virtual tours and senior living virtual tours.

What Made this Healthcare Photo Shoot Unique

The brand new Sylvia Barr Center at Southwell Medical is a 12 bed geriatric psychiatric facility providing inpatient services to older adults.Working with geriatric clientele for senior living virtual tours always provides unique challenges but add the psychiatric nature of this facility and we had our work cut out for us. Our unique experience with this type of program means that we are able to provide the images and virtual tour they need to show the facility to prospective clients or referral sources. But more than that, we understand how to put their patients needs first.

With the help of everyone from the marketing team, the direct care staff and the director of the program, we got our shots without disturbing the therapeutic milieu or disturbing their patients any more than necessary. It was truly a team effort and we cannot thank everyone enough for allowing us to work with them.

Mixing Business With Pleasure

As strange as it sounds, the pleasure aspect of this particular shoot is that it allows me to spend time in an environment that I absolutely love. I miss being involved in behavioral healthcare and have a special love for older people with cognitive impairments. Greg might say that the biggest challenge for him when we photograph memory care and psychiatric facilities is that I love the patients and residents so much that I don’t want to leave when we are done.

Our behavioral health virtual tours and photography allow me to keep one foot in an environment that energizes and fulfills me like nothing else ever could.
