The hotel is located in a busy commercial area with great restaurants and shopping. While this is a great benefit for visitors, it’s not as exciting for a hotel photographer. With real estate at a premium, the parking lot was busy and the hotel is long and narrow. This made it challenging to get outside shots but with lots of persistence and patience , we got them!
One of my husband’s great memories is from when his best friend finished culinary school and ended up working in Maryland. This was his introduction to real crab cakes so his expectations for crab cakes is pretty high.
The hotel is located right beside a restaurant they also own. We photographed the hotel at the beginning of the pandemic so we ordered Greg some crab cakes to go. These things were HUGE and even more delicious than he remembers. We hope that the hotel needs more pictures very soon!!
We always enjoy working with Rainmaker Hospitality so when they asked if we would photograph their new AVID hotel, we wanted to say yes!
This was our first time photographing an AVID so we weren’t sure what their guidelines are. I am not even totally sure how to type the brand into the description…Is it avid an IHG Hotel? Or should I type AVID Hotel? I checked the IHG website and it appears that the official way to type the name of this hotel is “avid hotel Cincinnati N – West Chester”. See what I mean – it’s the little things that matter in the hospitality photography business!
Luckily, our partners at Rainmaker Hospitality had all the information we needed and we discovered that avid/AVID/Avid uses stock photos for their interior photos but wants exterior shots of the actual hotel. Well, that was easy. The hotel is simply beautiful and the team did an amazing job keeping the front clear of cars. We could not be more pleased with the results!
This was one of our first forays back into traveling after the COVID quarantine so all of our time was spent in the room when we weren’t photographing. As Spire Elite members of the IHG Rewards program, we stay in a LOT of IHG properties so it was fun to have a totally different room experience. We loved the AVID concept and look forward to staying in and photographing many more.

We were thankful that S&S Management Company chose to have us photograph their Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Troy, OH. After the job we did for them at their Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Findlay, OH, they knew the quality of our work and how easy we are to work with. It is always the greatest compliment to be hired again.
The general manager, Helga, did a great job communicating with us in advance so the she could have the hotel ready for Holiday Inn Express approved photography. We had a great preparation call prior to the shoot and when we arrived, they were ready for us.
The hotel has recently undergone a major renovation and it all came together beautifully. The property is lovely and the people were so welcoming. Despite all of their hard work, we did face a challenge as it was raining and we had to get creative with our outside shots. That’s one of the things that can “go wrong”
This trip was a quick one with us shooting 5 different hotels in a week. Everything had to come together perfectly for it to work out as well as it did.
Thanks to everyone at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Troy and to Chris at S & S Management for choosing us once again! You were all so welcoming and made this a great hotel photo shoot. We definitely look forward to coming back to visit soon when we have more time to explore the area!
One of the main sources of our professional hotel photography business is management companies we have worked with repeatedly. We love the long term relationships we have built so we were excited when we had a new partner from Crown Hotel Management to help us on our hotel photo shoot for the Fairfield Inn & Suites – Asheville/Weaverville. Although we have photographed more than 800 hotels for more than 40 different brands, Fairfield Inn and Suites remains one of our favorite brands to photograph. This new hotel was lovely but as with many new hotels, there were some wrinkles that needed to be ironed out…literally!
Proper preparation is the key to meeting all of the Marriott brand standards but when dealing with a new hotel and a new management team, issues are bound to happen. There was a miscommunication and we arrived to find out that the hotel was not ready for our shots. To make matters worse, the weather was threatening to turn stormy so we were faced with quite a challenge.
This is why our long term clients hire us over and over again! We jumped in and I gave poor Stephanie from the management company a crash course in how to prepare a hotel for a photo shoot. She and I ironed the sheets, prepared the rooms and all of the other things that should have been done prior to our arrival. We did this a little frenetically but we laughed and made the best of the situation.
The photos turned out great and Stephanie and I have forged a bond that just strengthens the relationship we have with Crown.
This was a quick trip and though Asheville is one of my favorite places to visit, we didn’t have time for anything other than the business we were there to do!
Thanks to everyone else at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Asheville/Weaverville and to Stephanie McQuade from Crown Hospitality Management for making this situation turn out much better than it started. We definitely enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again when we can stay longer.
